Scholes: Why I’m ‘worried’ Man United ‘may get found out’

Paul Scholes is “worried” that Manchester United “may get found out” when they face “the better teams”.

United started the season in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side made a huge statement against a fellow Champions League hopeful – and the kneejerk reaction is that they will be the Premier League’s top scorers this season.

But Scholes fears that a relatively weak midfield could be their undoing, with Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay struggling to control proceedings against Chelsea.

“I’d be worried about that,” Scholes told Optus Sports of United’s midfield muddle.

“I thought Pereira was a little bit quiet. The lad has got ability, he’s a young player, he’s not played much football.

“I think against the better teams in midfield they may get found out. Which is why I’m saying against the better teams, counter-attack.

“I don’t think they are the type of team when they play against the top teams, like Chelsea or Manchester City, who are going to go toe-to-toe with them with possession.

“I just don’t think they are a good enough team to do that.”
