NAKED yoga is an empowering and liberating fitness trend. Here, a fitness instructor reveals why nudists are flocking to the classes.
Naked yoga has seen a dramatic increase in popularity over the last few years.
Fitness instructor Jessa, who runs the popular Instagram account The Nude Blogger, says the classes help people to be more body confident.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Star Online, the nudist revealed all about the trendy sessions.
So would you be brave enough to book into a workshop?
Jessa, from New South Wales, runs naked yoga classes across Australia.
She hopes these sessions will encourage participants to feel comfortable in their own skin.
The instructor also aims to change people’s perceptions about the naked body.
She said: “I am trying to help educate the public about non-sexual nudity – meaning nudity in its most natural and purest form.
“We have a culture that promotes self-doubt – industries feeding off of our insecurities, forever changing the definition of ‘beautiful’ and making it feel forever out of our reach.
“What we must remember is that each and every one of us is beautiful just as we are.
“Self-love and being kind to yourself are key.
“This has been a part of my work throughout my naked yoga classes and workshops.”
The Instagram star also holds nudist workshops that are solely for women.
These spots are often filled by those who have just started exploring naturism.
Jessa explained: “My naked yoga workshops are a women only event.
“I run women only because I absolutely believe in the support of sisterhood.
“Most of the women who attend my workshops have never been nude in public before, so I know that keeping it women only helps to make the women feel more comfortable.
“They have definitely become more popular over time and I see regular faces at my workshops these days.
“I aim to create a really nurturing and sacred space that helps the women to feel loved, supported and safe.”
At the workshops, ladies are encouraged to strip off in candlelight.
They then enjoy a spot of naked yoga, before delving into topics that promote body confidence.
Jessa explained: ”The workshops start off with a sharing circle and getting to know our sisters, as well as laying the foundations for a safe space in which the women can begin to feel comfortable enough to open up and share.
“We’ve been exploring intuitive movement and dance to learn to let go of rigidity and self-consciousness.
“We also explore breath work and affirmations.
“We enjoy a brief mediation and then we do an hour of yoga.”
Jessa added that women feel completely comfortable with being naked by the end of the sessions.
She said: “We then do a closing circle, have some tea and nibbles, socialise and take some photos.
“By that point, all the women are super comfortable being naked and no one wants to put their clothes back on!
“It’s so beautiful to bare witness to the powerful transformations that take place.
“(The classes) have definitely become more popular over time and I see regular faces at my workshops these days.”
