MOTOGP ace Andrea Dovizioso says Ducati must up the ante if he’s to compete with Marc Marquez.
The Italian missed out on a podium finish in Jerez and crossed the line in fourth.
Marquez, meanwhile, was dominant from start to finish a secured an important win in front of his adoring support.
Dovizioso’s display was disappointing after he also missed out on a podium finish in Austin.
The experienced star says the Desmosedici’s corner speed is a clear problem area and must improve.
“MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso has struggled in recent weeks”
“Our goal was to make a podium and we didn’t, this is the negative,” he said.
“The other negative part is the confirm of our speed in the fast corner, I was struggling in the beginning of the race, I couldn’t keep that speed.
“We work quite well during the practice our speed was quite good but just the race can show the real reality. I thought to have a smaller limit in that place but our speed wasn’t enough to stay in front.
“At the end the speed wasn’t bad and the gap in the end wasn’t bad so it is positive, I think we are faster than last year but there are more competitors in a better situation than last year so it is easy to make fourth like today.
“There are positive things but we wanted something more from here and our goal was to make a podium, and we couldn’t.”
