RESTAURANT mistakes don’t come much funnier, or more expensive, than this.
A mix-up by waiting staff at top restaurant Hawksmoor’s Manchester branch ended up with them being given the decidedly more pricey Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001 instead.
The Chateau le Pin is listed on Hawksmoor’s menu at an altogether more serious £4,500 a bottle – working out to around £750 a glass.
The restaurant’s management were philosophical about the error though. They tweeted: “To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4500 on our menu, last night – hope you enjoyed your evening!
“To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway”
Yes. As long as it is a one off, was the implication.
The lucky customer has yet to come forward and give their side of the story, which is a shame. We’d love to know if they noticed the difference.
