Jeremy Kyle Show replaced by Dickinson’s Real Deal after permanent axe

THE Jeremy Kyle Show time slot has been filled temporarily after its axe following the death of Steve Dymond.

ITV have confirmed that The Jeremy Kyle Show has been permanently cancelled.

The controversial talk show was taken off-air following the death of recent guest Steve Dymond.

After the show was yanked off-air on Monday so last minute, David Dickinson’s Real Deal was slotted in instead.

According to The Sun, the antiques show will fill the gaping hole in the TV schedule at least until the end of the month despite being a ratings flop.

David’s show allegedly attracted just 360,000 when it was originally assigned as the replacement in comparison to Jeremy Kyle’s normal 750,000.

A TV source told the publication: “ITV need some time to work out what is going to be in the slot long-term.

“Putting a reliable show like Dickinson’s Real Deal  in the slot for now means it gives them some breathing space and a bit of time to think.”

Explaining why they might have chosen the show, the insider said: “A two-week period with less pressure means they can make a decision in their own time.”

Steve Dymond was tragically found dead after appearing in a recent episode.

It was feared the guest had taken his own life after failing a lie detector before splitting from his fiancée.

Since the incident ITV have made the difficult decision to drop the show forever.

Carolyn McCall, ITV’s CEO, explained in a statement: “Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show.

“The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.

“Everyone at ITV’s thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond,” they added.

This comes after Prime Minister Theresa May said Mr Dymond’s death was a “deeply concerning case”.
