Forest fire put out in SW China

KUNMING, May 16 (Xinhua) — A forest fire that broke out in Anning of southwest China’s Yunnan Province was put out Thursday, according to the city’s information office.

The fire, which burned an area of more than 86.67 hectares, was completely put out as of 12:37 p.m.

More than 2,500 people and four helicopters were dispatched to put out the blaze, according to the office.

The fire broke out around noon on Monday near Wuyue Village.

No casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
