EASTENDERS viewers have been sobbing their hearts out tonight over the most emotional episode of the year.
Eastenders’ Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) has been struggling since her mum Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) disappeared from Albert Square a fortnight ago.
Stacey found out her mother has ovarian cancer earlier this week, which was why Jean had run away to a caravan to avoid her health issues.
Over the past two weeks, Jean avoided speaking to her family and for some of the time period, they didn’t even know where she had gone.
But tonight’s episode left viewers in floods of tears as Jean reunited with her daughter and granddaughter Lily.
Sat in the tiny caravan with Lily, the pair were left saddened after they ran out of biscuits during their reunion.
Jean asked Lily how her mum was, to which Lily replied: “She’s sad.”
The doting grandmother asked: “Do you want to tell her I’m coming home?”
After an excited Lily asked: “Really?” Jean quipped: “Well what’s the point in staying here without any biscuits?”
The episode ended with a teary Stacey and Jean being reunited, both unable to keep their emotions at bay as they gripped each other for a hug.
Viewers broke down after Jean promised Stacey: “It’s going to be okay.”
Rushing to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Stacey and Jean being reunited has me in tears.”
A second said: “Stacey and Jean. My mum caught me crying.”
Another said: “That ending had me welling up, so happy Jean’s finally going home and getting the support and treatment she needs.”
