CORONATION Street is set for a scheduling overhaul.
ITV bosses have confirmed that Coronation Street will air a week of episodes in the 9pm time slot, beginning on May 27.
The dramatic episodes are set to feature around Carla Connor’s (Alison King) mental health issues.
They will also cover the drama surrounding brothers Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) – who are trying to conceal the fact that they stole £80,000 from grandmother Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls).
The soap is continuing its annual tradition of airing a set of dramatic episodes to coincide with the Britain’s Got Talent live shows.
“Following weeks of speculation, we are finally going to learn which local has blood on their hands”
Coronation Street spokesperson
Last year’s 9pm episodes saw the fall of serial killer Pat Phelan, while the year before focused on Bethany Platt’s grooming storyline.
Corrie viewers have seen Carla struggling with her mental health issues after admitting she knew the Underworld roof needing repairing before it fell down and killed Rana Habeeb.
However, there is still e a mystery roof saboteur, who could be responsible.
Carla, Nick, Peter Barlow, Robert Preston, Gary Windass, and Seb Franklin are the six official suspects named by Corrie bosses.
A spokesperson for the soap earlier this week revealed that fans will be finding out who the real villain is very soon.
They told Inside Soap: “Following weeks of speculation, we are finally going to learn which local has blood on their hands.
“Viewers will learn the truth, although the rest of the Street still has a little way to go before they clock on. It’s a story that is going to run and run, and the outcome is not going to be cut and dried.”
Nick was arrested after police found the roof collapse report in his flat.
However, he was later released after claiming it was planted.
Coronation Street returns to ITV on Friday, airing at 7:30pm and 8:30pm.
