CORONATION Street’s Michelle Connor and Robert Preston look set for a devastating split.
In tonight’s Coronation Street double bill, Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) was left terrified about her potential pregnancy.
She thought she was pregnant and was accidentally hit in the stomach but a rogue football, leaving her concerned.
Carla (Alison King) took Michelle to the hospital to get checked over, where she was told she wasn’t pregnant.
But in a shock twist, Michelle was told she hadn’t even been pregnant to begin with.
And rather than be devastated, as expected, Michelle admitted she was relieved, saying she never wanted to be pregnant again.
She’s still struggling to deal with the stillbirth of her son Ruairi, who died in 2017 after an early labour.
Michelle returned home and broke the news to her partner Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill), who was distraught.
He couldn’t get his head around Michelle not wanting to have children any more, considering she’d appeared so pleased when she thought she was.
“We can’t have our lives dictated by Ruairi dying”
Robert’s sadness soon turned to anger though, as he raged: “We can’t have our lives dictated by Ruairi dying. He died, it’s sad, move on.”
The cruel comment flipped a switch in Michelle, who asked: “He was my son. How can you say that?”
She went on: “If I hadn’t lost Ruairi, I could have given you what you want because, let’s face it, this is all about what you want, isn’t it?”
Robert shot back: “Don’t make out that I’m the one being selfish here. First you want a baby, then you don’t. It’s like a game and you’ve got the power.”
Enough was enough for Michelle, who quickly stormed out of the flat, leaving Robert shouting after her from the balcony.
But will there be any coming back for the couple after this argument?
Coronation Street continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV.
