Arsenal transfer rumours: TODAY’S best gossip for Gunners fans

ARSENAL are on the hunt for reinforcements in a number of key areas this summer as they look to challenge harder in the Premier League next season.

Unai Emery narrowly missed out on securing Champions League football in his first season at the club by finishing fifth in the Premier League, just one point behind rivals Tottenham.

But they still have one more chance to achieve the feat should they beat Chelsea in the Europa League final on May 29.

If they do win it, the club’s transfer budget will look much healthier than it does now.

As it stands, Emery reportedly has around £40m to spend on players this summer but would like to bring in up to six new faces.

The top priority though is to sign a central defender and a box-to-box midfielder.

Getafe centre-back Djene Dakonam continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates.

The 27-year-old has been a key man for the Spanish club this season as they chase down a Champions League spot and has a release clause of £30m.

Emery also needs to replace the outgoing Aaron Ramsey, who is set to join Juventus on a free transfer.

Arsenal have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot in the past but they are unlikely to pursue them this summer.

West Ham star Declan Rice has also been touted as potentially making the move to the Emirates but the England international would not come cheap.

Should Arsenal qualify for the Champions League, they may be able to afford to splash out on another forward.

Rennes striker Ismaila Sarr has been strongly linked with a move to the club this season and scored against the Gunners when they faced each other in the Europa League back in March.

Rennes are likely to want around £25m for the winger, who has scored 12 goals for the Ligue 1 side this season.

But Sarr is not short of potential suitors, with Liverpool, Roma and AC Milan also being linked with a move for the Senegalese star.

Arsenal also reportedly sent scouts to watch Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in their 3-0 win over Marseille.

Dembele has scored 17 goals in 40 games since making the move from Celtic last summer.
