ARSENAL have been given a huge boost ahead of the Europa League final later this month – and fans could barely contain their excitement.
Arsenal’s league form slipped in the last month of the season, just as they should have been gearing up for the fight for a top-four spot.
The Gunners lost four of their last seven matches, ultimately giving up their Champions League place to Chelsea.
But they still have one final chance to reach UEFA’s premier club competition next season – the Europa League final.
And they seem to have been given a timely boost ahead of their preparations.
Much of Arsenal’s issues in the back-end of the season came in defence – with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette doing their best to counteract the problems with some fine goal-scoring form.
But first-team regular centre-back Rob Holding looks to be nearing a return to fitness.
The Englishman has been missing since early December after suffering a knee injury in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
The 23-year-old had started the 16 previous matches, as the Gunners completed a magnificent run of form after a shaky start to the season.
“Let’s hope we win the Europa League”
An excited Arsenal fan
Arsenal’s defence has struggled in his absence, with many unhappy with the performances of Shokdran Mustafi in his place.
But after seeing a compilation video of his return to training, Gunners fans are delighted, replying to his tweet to express their excitement.
One wrote: “Get in there Bobby!! Can’t wait to have you back in the starting XI.”
“Keep it up! Stay positive! We can’t wait to see you back on the pitch!” another added.
A third simply put: “Come back soon we miss u.”
“Hope to see you back in pre-season, Rob,” another Gunners fan replied.
A fifth wrote: “Pity you was injured, we probably would have finished in the top four if you was fit enough to play. Let’s hope we win the Europa League.
“You deserved to be part of the Europa final team,” another responded.
